The New York-New York Hotel is modeled after the real city but with just a touch of Las Vegas flair that you would never find on the streets of New York. Enter through the façade of the New York skyline and you’ll see tall buildings on the walls, quaint shops and streets leading to restaurants and slot machines, as well as neon signs and other Big Apple Décor.
Walk through the casino and you will see taxi cabs and steps that lead to fake apartment buildings. The skyline, the subway, and even a replica of Central Park give you the feeling that you are in the center of the city that never sleeps. Above the check-in area you will see murals of both the new skyline of New York City and a much older black and white picture of the skyline from many years ago. Street signs resemble the names of actual streets in New York.
As you walk toward the casino, you will notice the replica of Central Park complete with trees, plants, and an open area where people can sit, relax, and take a break from the busy casino. The check-in area is always busy and bustling just like the city itself. In fact, almost the entire hotel is in constant motion just like the busy city. A strip of neon lights surround the reception area reflect the constant glow of the city, as well. You will even find a shopping area just off the main lobby that is named after the famous Soho shopping district in New York. The best part about this “New York” is that it is much cleaner and more luxurious than the streets of New York City, and you won’t have to take a cab to get from one end of the casino to the other. Shop windows and sky scrapper facades seem to be everywhere you look and with the massive ceilings, it can be hard to see where some of them stop. Many of the building replicas both inside and outside of the hotel are designed as optical illusions, getting smaller as they reach the top, making them appear much taller than they actually are from the ground below.
